Esri offers many extensions to the base ArcGIS GIS Server included with ArcGIS Enterprise. These extensions broaden or deepen the capabilities of your server deployment.

ArcGIS GIS Server provides fundamental mapping, analytics, and data management capabilities to your ArcGIS Enterprise deployment. You use ArcGIS GIS Server to publish services, to host layers, and to provide ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World content to either connected or disconnected deployments. ArcGIS GIS Server supports OGC web services and custom geoprocessing models. It's also the licensing role needed to deploy a hosting server in your base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment.
Functionality
ArcGIS GIS Server is offered in three editions. Each successive edition offers additional functionality. You must apply the same ArcGIS GIS Server license edition to each machine in your site.
- Basic—The Basic edition of ArcGIS GIS Server includes geodatabase management and the ability to publish (but not edit) feature services for map visualization and query. You also get the geometry service and the ability to publish geodata services. Servers licensed with this edition cannot be federated with a portal or designated as a hosting server.
- Standard—With the Standard edition, you get everything in the Basic edition, plus all the GIS web service types offered by ArcGIS GIS Server. This allows you to enable your maps for the web, support web-based editing using feature services, and publish geoprocessing services from any tool included in ArcGIS Pro Standard. Optional extensions are available for purchase. Finally, you can share maps, apps, and other geographic information with everyone in your organization through the ArcGIS Enterprise portal.
- Advanced—With the Advanced edition, you get everything in the Standard edition, plus the ability to publish geoprocessing services from any tool included in ArcGIS Pro Advanced. Additional capabilities for geostatistical models and spatial analysis tools are also included with the Advanced edition. All other extensions are optionally available for purchase.
Capabilities and extensions
Availability of capabilities and extensions depends on the ArcGIS GIS Server license edition you purchased. For example, some capabilities are provided by default with your edition. Others may be available for purchase as an extension. Information about which license edition is required to use the functionality is noted below. Extensions are not available with ArcGIS GIS Server Basic.

Share 3D services and embed 3D analysis tools
Your GIS Server Advanced edition includes 3D data analysis and surface generation capabilities.
The ArcGIS 3D Analyst extension provides tools to create and analyze surfaces and other 3D data. You can manage lidar data, conduct visibility analysis, evaluate the geometric properties of 3D features, and use TINs as an elevation source.

Serve geostatistical models
Your GIS Server Advanced edition can share statistically valid prediction services for GIS modeling and visualization.
The ArcGIS Geostatistical Analyst extension provides tools for advanced surface modeling and data exploration. You can create interpolation models with a variety of statistical techniques to identify trends, spatial variation, clustering, and more. Models can be evaluated by cross-validation and other diagnostics.

Share/Embed Spatial Analyst tools and services
Your GIS Server Advanced edition comes with advanced raster data analysis and surface generation capabilities from ArcGIS Spatial Analyst extension
The ArcGIS Spatial Analyst extension provides tools for creating and analyzing raster data and for performing integrated analysis of raster and vector data. You can derive surfaces, such as slope and aspect, from digital elevation models; create site suitability models using weighted overlay analysis; and perform complex landscape analysis, such as finding least-cost paths or modeling material flows, concentrations, and dispersions over a surface.

ArcGIS Aviation Airports extension
Use the ArcGIS Aviation Airports server extension to share map and geoprocessing services that take advantage of airfield data.
- Create and share Obstacle Identification Surfaces (OIS) as 2D web maps or 3D web scenes.
- Publish geoprocessing tools that analyze obstacles for intersection with OIS features for obstacle assessment on the web.
ArcGIS Aviation Charting extension
Use the ArcGIS Aviation Charting server extension to share map and geoprocessing services that take advantage of aviation data.
- Exchange aeronautical data in AIXM 5.1 messages.
- Import FAA digital obstacle (DOF) data.
- Publish geoprocessing tools to automate your chart production.
ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension
Use the ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension to share map and geoprocessing services that take advantage of almost any data format or data model.
- Move data between ArcGIS and other systems using out-of-the-box translation tools.
- Author and share rich no-code extract, transform, and load geoprocessing (Spatial ETL) tools in ArcGIS Pro among hundreds of apps, formats, and databases.
- Create secure integrations and synchronizations between ArcGIS and other apps, including cloud native systems.
- Publish ETL tools, integrations, and synchronizations to ArcGIS Enterprise to share and scale user-driven scheduled or webhook-triggered workflows.

ArcGIS Data Reviewer extension

- Create fit-for-use maps that are based on defense standards.
- Enable advanced custom print and export services.
- Use with ArcGIS Pro to create and streamline delivery of GIS data and map production tasks and products.
- The Defense Mapping server extension provides an ArcGIS Enterprise portal app to produce and share high-end map products.
ArcGIS Maritime extension
Electronic Navigational Charts contain rich geospatial information. Using the ArcGIS Maritime server extension, a complementary, lightweight system, these authoritative S-57 and S-63 datasets can be made available as web-based services and can be easily integrated into established apps and workflows. Once integrated, this online nautical chart information supports a host of advanced geospatial activities, including advanced analysis, situational awareness, and rapid response across a wide range of maritime applications and provides tools to automate multiscale paper chart production.
- Apply the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) S-57 standard for Additional Military Layers (AML), Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC), Inland ENC (IENC) and Bathymetric Inland ENC (BIENC) product specifications.
- Use Maritime Chart Service to seamlessly display nautical charts online by publishing authoritative S-57 and S-63 datasets via RESTful- and OGC-WMS-compliant web services.

ArcGIS Network Analyst extension
The ArcGIS Network Analyst extension provides advanced network data analysis capabilities via web services.

- Provide sophisticated network modeling capabilities to more people, including analysts, professional staff, and decision makers, regardless of their GIS knowledge or skills.

ArcGIS Production Mapping server extension
The ArcGIS Production Mapping server extension provides consistency across operations by storing business rules, workflows, map documents, and other production information in a centralized location.

The ArcGIS Workflow Manager (Classic) server extension allows you to organize, centralize, and standardize project workflows using web services.

- Create and assign workflows to appropriate resources in multiuser geodatabase environments.
- Improve user productivity and save time through automated tasks while tracking staffing, time schedules, and more.
- Create and deliver project workflows in ArcGIS Workflow Manager (Classic) Desktop and use your GIS server to share those services to desktop, mobile, and web applications.
The Classic version of the ArcGIS Workflow Manager server extension is still supported, but it's recommended that you use the redesigned ArcGIS Workflow Manager Server.
ArcGIS Roads and Highways extension
ArcGIS Roads and Highways extends the existing ArcGIS Server map service with an additional REST service capability for linear referencing.
- Publish your Roads and Highways LRS networks and registered event layers as map services.
- Translate (Locate) routes and measures to coordinates or polylines and translate coordinate locations to routes and measures.
- Validate route or measure values.
- Convert measures from one linear referencing method (LRM) to another.
- Use the linear referencing capability with Event Editor, a web app that can be configured against event data published in ArcGIS Roads and Highways.
- Add and edit your routes using ArcGIS Roads and Highways and then perform multilayer, transactional event editing, with support for overlap retirement and coincident event merging using the Event Editor.
ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing extension
ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing extends the existing ArcGIS Server map service with an additional REST service capability for linear referencing in pipeline organizations.
- Publish your LRS networks and registered event layers as map services.
